Biography:
Sol J. Cohen is a partner in Kerstein, Coren & Lichtenstein’s litigation and real estate groups. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, in mediations and arbitrations, and before administrative agencies. Sol has tried over 40 cases to jury verdict, has more than two decades of litigation experience and has closed over 3,000 real estate transactions.
Sol has chosen a career and law practice grounded on the principal that everyone deserves affordable, quality legal representation during the most important transitions of their lives. His practice focuses on two critical areas: peoples’ homes and their jobs.
For over two decades, Sol has represented individuals in complex employment matters and helped clients with complicated, drawn out real estate closings. He works closely with each client to make sure they understand all the details of their case or transaction and make informed, intelligent decisions.
In his employment law practice, Sol zealously represents employees in disputes with their employers. He handles wrongful termination matters, discrimination issues, sexual harassment allegations, unpaid wages and overtime claims, and all the issues that arise during the employer-employee relationship. Sol also serves as trusted counsel to executives and other employees on all aspects related to the formation of the employment agreement and separation from employment, and routinely negotiates employment agreements, severance agreements, non-competition, non-solicitation, confidentiality and other employment-related agreements. He structures his fees so they are affordable to the average member of the work force.
Sol has recovered millions of dollars in damages and unpaid wages for his clients, and his work on behalf of employees in wrongful termination, sexual harassment and disability discrimination cases has yielded numerous settlements over $100,000. In 2001, Sol took on an employment-related matter and formed a team of three attorneys who represented the employee and his family in a matter that resulted in a $4.85 million jury verdict, which at the time was the largest jury award in a tort case in the history of the Massachusetts Federal Court. As a result, Sol was named in the Top 10 Jury Verdicts 2001 in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
Sol’s real estate practice focuses on assisting clients with the purchase and sale of real estate, including preparation, review and negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement and advising clients on title issues. His team excels in making sure each real estate transaction is seamless and every closing proceeds smoothly and without stress. Sol’s trusted experience makes it almost effortless for his clients to purchase or sell property.
